Couldn’t love this more.
I found this cool article:
BABY SHARKS BIRTHED IN ARTIFICIAL UTERUS
Apparently, this is how a sand shark breeds in nature:
After mating, a female produces as many as 40 fertilized embryos, separated between two separate wombs. The embryos take nearly a year to fully develop, but they begin hunting long before that. After about two months, their own yolk sacs go dry. Hungry, they start eating their brothers and sisters. After the rampant in utero cannibalization, only one shark — the biggest and strongest — is left in each womb.
These sharks are killers BEFORE THEY’RE EVEN FUCKING BORN.
Hey friends,
I’m helping some folks cast for a new comedy web series (paid!). Here are the details:
CAUGHT IN THE ACT
Created by Vance Tucker & David Spaltro
Executive Produced by Raina Oberlin, CinEcliptic Productions
A comedic, 7 episode web series about a troubled actor who is forced to use his acting “super powers” to solve the murder of his friend and in doing so uncovers a conspiracy that threatens to destroy actors everywhere.
The series is set to shoot this fall in NYC. Pay is SAG Ultra Low scale.
We are looking to cast the following roles:
MARCEL (mid-to-late 20s) – Once a promising actor, Marcel now works as a school janitor. A traumatic childhood event prompted him to give up acting altogether. He’s mild mannered and keeps to himself except for time spent drowning his sorrows at Dos Bar with his buddy Pete.
ELNA (mid-to-late 20s) – An optimistic and upbeat drama teacher prone to fits of grammatical correctness. She harbors a secret crush on the troubled actor that causes her to pry into his life, in particular his past, her mission: find out what makes him tick.
PETE (late 20s/early30s) – A functional borderline retard, Pete works as a bartender at Dos Bar. He has been the troubled actor’s closest and only friend for years but harbors a secret that may change their relationship forever.
MARTIN KRAZNIC (40s-50s) – A formerly revered actor who’s retained his chiseled good looks; he looks twenty years younger than he actually is. Exiled by Hollywood, he sets out to exact revenge on the system that wronged him. He is the only one who knows the troubled actor’s secret past. (British accent preferred but not required)
JOHNNY CLEVELAND (early 30s) – Famous comedian-turned-actor who churns out highly profitable yet critically abhorred films. Grew up in the same orphanage as the troubled actor.
PHOTOGRAPHER (30s-40s) – A paparazzo that lives his life in the shadows tailing celebrities and has ties to Martin Kraznic.
DETECTIVE ANDREWS (40s -50s) – A mild mannered police detective. He’s been around long enough to have “seen it all.”
MICAH GREENBAUM (late 30s, early 40s) – Johnny Cleveland’s over-worked, elite lifestyle obsessed agent.
CHERYL (30s) – Greenbaum’s adorably naive receptionist and personal assistant.
BECKY (early 20s) – One of Elna’s star acting pupils. Aspires to be Hollywood’s next-big-thing.
WALTER (early 20s) – Another of Elna’s star acting pupils. Incredibly cocky.
STUDENT 1 (early 20s) – One of Elna’s acting students. Participation in the class is more of a hobby for him rather than for any real career aspirations.
TOMMY BAHAMA (late 30s, early 40s) – Hawaiian shirt clad comedian-turned-actor. Had a run in with Martin Kraznic during his prime.
If interested in auditioning please send a current headshot, resume and the role you would like to read for to sue.constantine@friarsclub.com.

Who do you consider to be today’s most underrated stand-ups?
Well, I don’t know who’s rating. I’m definitely a big fan of Al Madrigal. I just was out with him last night. I think he’s a great storyteller and a very funny guy, and I don’t know that a lot of people know who he is. My buddy Ryan Singer is starting to come into something. I enjoy him. He’s weird. I just don’t know who is rated and who isn’t rated. Some people are beginning to get their wave of attention. There are some guys that a lot of people don’t know that are just starting to blossom into their own thing. In terms of guys from my generation who are underrated, there’s always a few of those. Certainly Jim Earl and Eddie Pepitone are, but I do what I can to get them a higher rating. [Laughs] I think Andy Kindler is an underrated genius as a comedian. Maria Bamford seems to be highly rated. Jackie Kashian, I think is severely underrated and a great comic.
We did it! Onassis won the Friars Club sketch competition! Now we get to make a short film. I am extremely proud and grateful to be in this group. We had a such a blast doing this show. Thanks to everyone who helped and came out to watch. Big thanks to our director Seth Reiss, the judges and the UCB Theatre!
